It has 8x8 configuration and larger dump body. This dump truck is powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 DDEC IV engine. This 12.7-liter 6-cylinger engine develops 430 hp. The same engine is also used on the M915A3 line haul tractor and M916A3 light equipment
transporter. The engine is mated to an Allison automatic transmission with 6 forward and 1 reverse speeds. Vehicle has 6x6 configuration. The M917A2 has a Crysteel dump body. It came as standard with a swing gate.
